Department of Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is the medical science aimed towards decreasing pain and restoring optimal movement and function to an injured body part or system. At Temple Physical Therapy, we have a strong program with all of our licensed physical therapists holding advanced degrees or coursework in physical therapy, or a related field. Our staff is well versed in many therapy techniques including Cyriax, McKenzie, Maitland, Mulligan, Kaltenborn, Butler, Travell, Jones, functional strengthening and more. Our main goal with each patient is to maximize their pain-free level of function regardless of the techniques utilized.

Who will benefit from physical therapy?

Any individual who with a decrease in function due to an acute or chronic injury to any muscle, tendon, ligament, or bone in the spine or extremities, or suffers from a neurological disorder. The decrease in function may be due to loss in range of motion/joint mobility, strength, endurance, coordination, balance, or an increase in pain.

How can physical therapy benefit an injury?

Temple physical therapists utilize scientifically proven techniques including various soft tissue and joint mobilizations, therapeutic exercises and functional activities, as well as passive modalities if needed, to treat the injured tissues and promote proper healing. Further efforts are made to strengthen and stabilize an injured area, educate the patient in ways to protect and properly use the injured area to prevent reinjury, and to return the patient to a fully functional lifestyle.

Temple Physical Therapy is a state licensed, Medicare accredited facility and participates with most workers’ compensation and private insurance plans.
