Job Placement Assessments

A Job Placement Assessment is a specific functional test intended to determine if an employee’s, or future employees, physical status meets the necessary level to safely and efficiently perform the required job tasks. Only job specific functional assessments developed by department of labor statistics and company job descriptions will demonstrate that testing complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

What type of companies would benefit from a job placement assessment program?

Any company that suffers from a high incidence of work place injuries, that has high-risk jobs, or a specific job category that has a higher incidence of injury compared to the rest of the company.

Benefits of Job Placement Assessments

Potentially decrease lost days due to injury by matching employees’ capabilities to appropriate job functions.

Increase job production by ensuring employees can meet a high level in all tasks required in job description.

Lower worker's compensation costs by reducing injuries, severity of injuries, and disability ratings.

Demonstrate compliance with OHSA for developing programs to decrease and prevent workplace injuries.

Components of a Job Placement Assessment

Job Placement Assessments are specifically designed to test crucial, highly physical, job components of which poor results would be indicative of low job performance and increased risk of a work related injury. Some possible tests include: multi-position lifting tasks, push and pull tasks, carrying tasks, and sit/stand tolerances.

How is a Job Placement Assessment program initiated?

Once a company decides to begin the program, a Temple employee will schedule an appointment to visit your company to observe your employees while they are working. This employee will match actual performance with the company job description. Next, tests are developed from these observations, and job descriptions, that are functional and specifically required for an employee to fully perform their job.

What information will be presented to the employer after completion of the Job Placement Assessment?

Results of each category tested will be presented in comparison to the predetermined functional required level.

Recommendations will be made on an individual basis based on functional testing results, as well as observation of body mechanics, for full work, work limitations, work modifications, pre-work Work Conditioning/Hardening, or Back School.

The employer is solely responsible for decisions made from the provided information and recommendations.

With rising medical and corporate costs of disability, Temple Physical Therapy remains at the forefront in the development of true preventative health care with programs of this high caliber
